Workshop Summary
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) held three Alternates Public Workshops in March 2007. The purpose of the workshops was to acquaint the public with the US 301 Waldorf Area Project and to present a summary of project-related conceptual engineering alternatives and environmental concerns.
Numerous citizens, including residents, elected officials and the media, took the opportunity to provide feedback to SHA by speaking with project team members at the workshops or by submitting comment cards.
The first workshop was held on Tuesday, March 20 at Mattawoman Middle School in Waldorf, and was attended by approximately 225 people. The second workshop was held on Thursday, March 22 at Gwynn Park Middle School in Brandywine and was attended by approximately 95 people. The final workshop was held on Saturday, March 24 at Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf, and was attended by approximately 210 people.
The next step for the project team is to review the comments and continue to develop the alternatives in more detail.
